A New York City based costume and set designer, Andrea Huelse's award-winning work has been seen in opera, theatre, dance, video, television and film productions across the United States, Europe and Asia. Her highly collaborative approach includes close work with director, actors, and fellow designers, as well as in depth exploration of text and music, resulting in costumes and sets that reveal character, mood and nuance.

In 2002, she was an NEA/TCG Young Designer Career Development Grant recipient, and under this program observed or assisted numerous designers and directors, including Constance Hoffman (Frankfurt Opera), Simona Rybikova (Prague National Opera) and Robert Woodruff (American Reperatory Theatre).

Some recent credits include PBS's television series Texas Ranch House and American Experience, the feature film "Day Zero" starring Elijah Wood, Ally Sheedy, Ginnifer Goodwin and Chris Klien (World Premiere at 2007 Tribeca Film Festival), Wolf Trap Opera's "Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria", Redmond Entwhistle's "Monuments" which will open at the Tate Modern in London this fall, and historical consultation for 89 Seconds at Alcazar- artist Eve Sussman's video installation (Karen Young, designer) now owned by the New York Museum of Modern Art and currently on display at the London National Gallery.
