The ‘Blue Hour’ is the hour of twilight when the world appears bathed in hues of blue marking the receding day and signaling the arriving night. It is a time of the in-between; a time of atmospheric change when daylight submits to artificial light and the city is transforming. This uncanny period of transition is famously captured in Rene Magritte’s painting, The Empire of Lights.
A narrative of the everyday is told through the changing interplay of natural and artificial light. As the light changes, the room takes on a life of its own, its details falling in and out of focus from a single vantage point through a series of 45 time-lapse photographs.A single occupant, betwixt and between, is present only as a reflection of the light that shapes his environment at this transformative moment in time.

The MoMA PS1 Performance Dome became a multipurpose, pop-up work party. The Dome’s interior multitasked as a design studio, hosting seven design firms working on site throughout the day; as a DJ lounge where friends and professional acquaintances can enjoy themselves and network; and as a performance event open to the public. The labor and lifestyle of creative workers—graphic designers, architects, DJs, sound designers, set designers, and artists—will be presented as performance, an HD, 10,000-lumen graphic-design planetarium. Inside the Dome, our lives as producing beings will circle around the hemisphere’s circumference and through the project cycle: conception, production, promotion, presentation, and celebration.
